The new species has the scientific name Drepanosticta emtrai Dow, Kompier & Phan, 2018, the name of the species is given in Vietnamese, "younger brother" to refer to the "late birth" of this species compared with a species very close to it is Drepanosticta hongkongensis Wilson, 1997. D. emtrai is similar to other species in the family Platystictidae.
Camel spiders or Camel spiders belong to the order Solifugae, class Arachnida. Currently, in the world, there are about 1,000 species of 159 genera. They are mainly distributed in warm and dry climates or arid desert regions.
